Nations' Memorybank and Landmark Information Group are delighted to announce their intention to work together on an exciting new initiative to map the nation's memory, by combining the unique memory mapping service provided by Nations' Memorybank with Landmark's digital collection of historic maps, old-maps.co.uk. Soon it will be possible to upload a memory about a house, building, street or community and then click through to an historic map of the same location, to see what used to stand there up to 150 years ago.
Dr Nick Barratt, one of the founders of Nations' Memorybank, said: 'This project will revolutionise the way we bring our personal heritage to life, because - for the first time - we can record our memories of the past and, at the same time, actually see the landscape in which our ancestors lived. We are delighted to be working with Landmark to build this incredible new resource. ' Visit www.nationsmemorybank.com or Landmark's www.old-maps.co.uk for further details.
