Attacked by crows on Blackheath...
A humorous memory about growing up in Blackheath
It was a lovely sunny day, so I decided it would be nice to have a picnic on Blackheath, just opposite the house where I grew up. Being an only child I was on my own, but quite content in my own company. So there I was, enjoying the large expanse of grass.. the blue sky.. the odd butterfly, and the sandwich wasn't bad either. I had almost finished what had been a pleasant hour when I became very suddenly aware that I was completely surrounded by large black crows. There is a community of crows on the heath, I had become quite fond of them, and used to imitate their calls on the way to school in the morning. That day they turned on me... I stood up and in a scene reminiscent of 'The Birds' fled home as fast as I could with the crows in pursuit of me and my lunch. I have never quite trusted them since...
